    Vaginal Plastic Surgery Options

Vaginal plastic surgery is one of the fastest growing areas in the field of aesthetic surgery today. Advancements in surgical techniques have made the procedures safer, and women are more forthcoming and aspiring to receive sexual aesthetic enhancement through such procedures.

Dr. Paul McCluskey is a leading cosmetic surgeon providing various sexual aesthetic procedures, both surgical and non-surgical. Dr. McCluskey provides all the major options in vaginal plastic surgery to patients in Atlanta, GA and other locations.

    Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal rejuvenation is a key procedure designed to make the vaginal area firmer, aesthetically pleasing and youthful. The plastic surgeon will recommend the appropriate technique to perform vaginal rejuvenation, depending on the vaginal anatomy and aesthetic goals of the patient. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, and may involve general or local anesthesia. IV sedation along with a nerve block to numb the entire vagina and vulva may also be used.

The procedure is usually completed in about one to two hours, depending on the extent of relaxation required and whether both anterior and posterior vaginal walls need to be treated. The procedure involves rebuilding of the vaginal structures that provide support and enable contraction of the vagina. The support tissue and muscle groups around the vagina are also tightened to narrow the vaginal canal and opening in order to improve contraction of the vaginal muscle groups.

    Labiaplasty

Labium enlargement may occur over a period of time due to aging, childbirth, illness or injury. The cosmetic surgeon may perform this procedure for functional or aesthetic corrections, or a combination of both. In many cases, a labiaplasty is performed to reduce the size of both labia minora and majora. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis, involving local anesthesia and sedation.

The surgeon will surgically trim the labial tissue in order to remove the excess tissue. Care must be taken to retain sufficient tissue laxity of stretchable tissue before resizing it in a cosmetic way to allow for smaller but natural looking labia. The surgeon will place the incisions discreetly and close them with absorbable sutures. The procedure can be completed in about one to two hours. Experienced plastic surgeon Dr. McCluskey receives patients from Atlanta, GA and nearby areas for labiaplasty.

    Labiaplasty Repair

If the blood supply is injured during primary labiaplasty, it will require a labiaplasty repair procedure. After a failed labiaplasty, the patient will need at least five months of healing before a repair can be performed. It is a complex reconstructive procedure, and Dr. McCluskey is an expert in this field who receives patients who have had a failed procedure elsewhere.

The length and complexity of the labiaplasty repair or revision surgery will depend on the extent of vaginal deformity and the required labiaplasty reconstruction technique. The procedure may range from as little as one hour to as many as four or five hours. Correcting a botched primary labiaplasty will typically take a longer time because it is more complex than the original surgery.
